A man has been left with burns and horrific injuries after he picked up a can of spray paint which exploded in his face. Graham Shwenn was helping his friend set up a camper van when he grabbed an aerosol can from the front seat of the car. But one of them exploded and embedded into his groin, genitals and stomach. The 57-year-old, from Halewood, was rushed to hospital after the accident, which occurred at 4pm yesterday. His wife, Ann, 59, said the can may have exploded because of the heat in the car due to the ongoing warm weather. She told the Liverpool Echo : “I am absolutely devastated for him. He had an operation last night. He is going to have another operation today. “He is really concerned about what happened to him – it was very unusual. “He wants people to be aware about the dangers of leaving aerosol cans exposed to the heat. “He is shocked at the huge impact a canister can cause, which is why he would like awareness to be raised.” Mr Shwenn, a retired engineer, was taken to Whiston Hospital and spent several hours in surgery last night.
