Special Counsel Robert Mueller plans to interview US President Donald Trump over obstruction of justice as part of the Russia probe, it emerged yesterday. The revelation comes after Trump unleashed a furious Twitter tirade on Wednesday in which he slammed the long-running federal investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 presidential election. Trump once again called the probe a “witch hunt” and accused the special counsel of being “conflicted.” He said: “This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!” According to insiders, Trump’s outburst came after learning that Mueller was looking to question the President about obstruction of the Russia probe. ABC News said Mueller “will limit the scope of questioning and would like to ask questions both orally and written for the President to respond to.” Trump has repeatedly said he would meet the special counsel while the president’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani confirmed that talks with Mueller’s legal team over the one-on-one are ongoing. “We have a list of questions that are fairly narrowed but we are waiting on the special counsel’s response,” Giuliani told ABC last week.
