In college I drove a beat up Ford Aspire, a captive import re-badged Kia Avella. It was an awful machine with 63 horsepower 1.3-liter inline-four, the worst NVH ratings in the world, and many of its bits broken beyond repair. Despite it being pretty terrible at everything, it was actually kind of fun to drive. You really had to wring it out to get the most out of it, and it was light enough that a set of Miata wheels and stickier tires made it a riot in the corners. The Australian market got this version of the car, called the Ford Festiva Demon. That Demon got a mega 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 88.4 horsepower. What’s the Aussie version of Craigslist? I need to find one.
