A banner criticising Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was flown over the Red Devils’ Premier League game at Burnley on Sunday, drawing a mixed reaction from supporters. Woodward has come under fire following United’s below-par start to the season, with many supporters blaming his lack of investment in the squad for poor form which has seen United lose two of their opening three games. While Jose Mourinho has been coming in for criticism, the United boss has been determined to drive a narrative which sees Woodward as the man to blame and not the manager himself. And when the banner was flown over the ground prior to kick-off , a significant number of United fans applauded it and began singing Mourinho’s name. However, the reaction on social media was rather different. While many supporters aren’t happy with Woodward, some seem to feel as though the banner was a step too far.
