Accident stats reveal Sundays are the deadliest for motorists, Saturdays the safest Sundays are a day of bloodshed on city’s roads. Of the 632 accidents (468 fatal and 164 self accidents) in 2020, 81 fatalities and 28 self-accidents occurred on Sundays. And the least number of accidents were recorded on Saturdays with 51 fatal and 20 self accidents. The figures from the last three years point to this — Sundays are the most dangerous days and Saturdays, the least. Of the day, evenings are the unsafest as most accidents occurred between 6 pm and 9 pm. As many as 88 fatal accidents took place in those hours and 74 each between 3 pm and 6 pm and 9 pm and 12 am. As for self-accidents, the maximum were between 12 am and 6 am and 9 pm and 12 am. Police sources said that this happens as people tend to speed during the hours when traffic is low.
