Phone design got a little eccentric this past year. Reciting a mantra of “more screen is always better” under their breath, smartphone manufacturers did their utmost to kill the bezels around their displays, with most of them opting for the notch as the primary solution. Some copied the iPhone X’s wide notch, others boasted of their narrower notches, and Google went the other way by putting the biggest notch ever on the Pixel 3 XL. Apple chief designer Jony Ive has long expressed his desire to “create an iPhone that is all display.” Currently, his company appears momentarily content with claiming to have an edge-to-edge display, albeit with that substantial disruption at the top. Metrolinx has finally released the transit authority’s official Presto card Android and iOS app. The app is designed for Presto card users in the greater Toronto area, as well as Hamilton and Ottawa, Ontario. It allows users to quickly view, manage and load their transit card on the go directly from their smartphone. For Metrolinx’s new Presto app to work, you first need to log in with either your pre-created Presto account or link your account to the app through the card’s serial number. The first page of the app displays how much money you have on your Presto card, as well as recent transactions. Scrolling to the bottom of this menu reveals ‘Autoload’ and ‘Autorenew’ settings. Regarding adding funds to the app, money can be loaded in increments of $10, $20, $50 or a custom amount. ASUS seems to be taking good care of the budget segment of smartphones of India. The Taiwanese company has launched a couple of budget devices in the country, the ZenFone Max M1 series being one of them. Now, after a couple of months, the company has unveiled the successors to the devices- the ZenFone Max M2 and the ZenFone Max Pro M2 at an event in New Delhi, India. Last month, Samsung introduced a couple of display types, the Infinity-O display being one of them. Now, proving the rumors right, the company has launched its first smartphone with the display, dubbed the Galaxy A8s in China. The Samsung Galaxy A8s has the 6.4-inch Full HD+ Infinity-O display as its main USP. The display introduces a hole at the top-left-corner, making way for really thin bezels and ensuring an aspect ratio rated at 19:5:9.Another highlight is the cameras; the device has three cameras at the back rated at 24-megapixel (ultra-wide lens), 10-megapixel (telephoto lens), and 5-megapixel (depth sensor). The front camera stands at 24-megapixel which is housed in the hole. The Galaxy A8s is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor with Kyro 360 CPU.
