Apple iPhone 13 may come with 1TB storage option

Data storage woes of iPhone users and potential buyers could soon be lessened a lot, if a report about the in-the-works iPhone 13 are to be believed. The upcoming Apple iPhone 13 could offer a 1TB storage option, as per a report by 9To5Mac. The report is based upon the inputs received from analysts at Los Angeles-based investment firm Wedbush. The maximum possible storage you could get with the iPhone 12 series is 512GB. There was an earlier report by Front Page Tech also, which said that the next iPhone could offer a 1TB storage option with its high-end model. The recent report by 9To5Mac corroborates the same. If the claims in the report turn out to be true, the iPhone 13 would become the first iPhone to offer a 1TB storage option. Till date, Apple has not stretched the storage option of the iPhone beyond 512GB, though it has done the same for the iPad, with the iPad Pro model that comes with a 1TB storage option. Apple’s competitor Samsung, on the other hand, … [Read more...] about Apple iPhone 13 may come with 1TB storage option

Apple set to make a ‘big announcement’ today

We are just in the second week of the new year and it looks a big announcement is on the cards from Apple. Apple CEO Tim Cook gave an interview to CBS and its host Gayle King has revealed that Apple is set to make a big announcement. However, King specified that it’s not going to be a product. According to a report by 9to5Mac, King was quoted as saying about the interview with Cook, “This was an interview that was scheduled because they have a big announcement that they want to announce tomorrow,” said King. “It is not a new product.” However, King said that even if it’s not a new hardware “it’s very exciting”. What may be the ‘big’ Apple announcement Since it’s not a product — and Apple generally never launches one in January — it could be a part of services. Perhaps it could be Apple’s big privacy initiative that has become quite the talking point. The App Tracking Transparency feature requires all apps to seek permission from users before tracking them … [Read more...] about Apple set to make a ‘big announcement’ today

How Apple may get an iPhone to do an ‘important’ task without a port

Among all the rumours about the next iPhone that are coming in, the most intriguing one suggests that Apple may offer a completely portless device. Now, as a follow up to that, a report by Appleosophy has claimed that due to the missing Lightning port, Apple will have to offer a new method for the recovery process. Right now, recovering an iPhone that is in an unresponsive state requires it to be connected to another device, typically via the Lightning port on the base. Perhaps that’s why a missing Lightning port may make it difficult to do this. As per the report, the Cupertino-based tech giant is working on something called Internet Recovery that will enable iPhone users to make the iPhone enter a mode that will allow it to recover. For this, the software teams at Apple are said to be working on evaluating three ways. The first method would require users to put iPhones in a manual recovery mode , which would trigger the Internet Restore broadcast. This would … [Read more...] about How Apple may get an iPhone to do an ‘important’ task without a port

Apple’s ProRaw is why I reach for my iPhone and not my Google Pixel

Apple's new ProRaw photo format has turned me into an iPhone guy. I still love my Google Pixel . But more and more often, I reach for my iPhone 12 Max Pro when taking a shot. Its telephoto camera, which sits alongside wide angle and ultrawide cameras, is a big draw. The control the ProRaw format gives me when I edit my shots, however, is the key to my shifting photography habits. Cut through the chatter Subscribe to CNET's Mobile newsletter for the latest phone news and reviews. The new ProRaw technology lets me achieve a look that's more pleasing and natural than I can get with the standard JPEG or HEIC photos most camera phones produce. That's important for both my nature and family photos. The new format gives Apple an edge after a decade in which its once-superior iPhone cameras lost ground to Google , whose image processing software dramatically improved smartphone photography. Apple's investments in photography should help keep iPhone customers loyal … [Read more...] about Apple’s ProRaw is why I reach for my iPhone and not my Google Pixel
