The Rocket Report's Houston-based author lacked power until Wednesday night amidst a massive winter storm and had no reliable Internet until Friday afternoon. We still had no hot water at our house, but at least we're no longer freezing. We're back just in time to spew all manner of spicy launch news this week. Virgin Galactic aims to rocket to space as soon as Saturday
Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson's nascent space tourism company , plans to make its latest run at orbit as soon as Saturday, Feb. 13 from New Mexico's Spaceport America. Virgin is working to complete a few more test flights before Branson takes his own long-awaited orbital joyride, followed by paying customers who are coughing up somewhere in the neighborhood of a quarter million dollars to become astronauts for a day. The company attempted a test flight in December, but a computer on board the spacecraft SpaceShipTwo Unity aborted ignition of the rocket motor. The Virgin Galactic team now says it's corrected the problem and tested it on the ground. The next step is to try again. Virgin Galactic unveils its sleek cabin for future space tourists
Fly with Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic to space and you can expect a custom-sized reclining seat, automated mood lighting and plenty of roam to float around once the spaceship VSS Unity reaches the microgravity environment of orbit. That's all part of the package revealed by the space tourism company on Tuesday via a live YouTube stream, which you can watch via the embed below: Virgin Galactic unveiled the cabin where customers who pay $200,000 or more for a ticket will become bona fide astronauts. Indian mobile services market to touch US$ 103.9 billion by 2020: Study
MANGALURU: Indian mobile services market is expected to reach $37 billion in 2017, growing at 10.3% year-on-year to cross US$ 103.9 billion by 2020, according to an ASSOCHAM-Resurgent India joint study. As on March 2017, the service sector grew 7.74% year-on-year to Rs 21.43 trillion (US$ 332.74 billion). The Indian digital classifieds industry is expected to grow three-fold to reach US$ 1.2 billion by 2020, driven by growth in horizontal classifieds like online services, real estate and automobiles. Out of overall services sector, the sub-sector comprising financial services, real estate and professional services contributed US$ 305.8 billion or 20.5% to the GDP, reveals the joint study on ‘Service Sector in India’ released today. Service sector employs nearly 40% of the population in the economy. It has the capacity to absorb the need of the growing population. Visit Machu Picchu with Huge ‘Zoomable’ Image
Now you can explore the awe-inspiring Incan estate of Machu Picchu — from your computer. This huge image of the Incan site in Peru took nearly two hours to photograph and is made up of 1,920 separate images that were stitched together using a program called GigaPan . Viewers can zoom in to see the smallest details of the site. The photographs were taken by Jeff Cremer, marketing director of Rainforest Expeditions , a company that runs eco-tourism trips to the Peruvian Amazon . Cremer said he made the image in part to raise awareness about the plight of the site, which is being degraded by the many tourists that come to see it, he told OurAmazingPlanet. He said he wants people to visit but that they need to stick to marked paths to avoid exacerbating Machu Picchu's worsening erosion and degradation.
