The Ministry of Electronics & IT in a press statement revealed some numbers that prove Facebook is the most dominant social media company in India with the largest user base. Lenovo leads the tablet market in India, Samsung and Apple make gains
Lenovo, the Chinese technology company, has emerged as the market leader in the Indian tablet market during CY 2020 (Jan-Dec) according to data from the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker. The Indian tablet market has seen shipments hit 2.8 million units leading to a growth of 14.7% year-over-year. “ It was a year of growth after declining for four consecutive years, mainly aided by the increased utility of tablets to support e-learning demand,” added the report. Lenovo maintained the market leader and saw a 6.6% growth in its shipments over 2019. Additionally, the company also saw the biggest consumer year with 153% YoY growth in 2020. At the same time, it witnessed a 15.1% decline in its commercial segment. Both Samsung and Apple ranked at second and third positions making gains. HP leads printer, scanner, peripherals market in India
The Hardcopy Peripherals (HCP) market in India has witnessed its best performance in the fourth quarter “till date in terms of unit shipments” said IDC in its latest Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker, 4Q20 report. “As the country opened further during the festival season and vendors partially resolved their supply issues following a global surge in demand, India's HCP market witnessed a growth of 4.0% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) during 4Q20 (Oct-Dec 2020),” added the report. In India, the biggest market share was captured by HP Inc. The company maintained its position to be the market leader in the overall HCP market with a share of 40.2% and a growth in shipment of 22.1% YoY. At second place, Epson replaced Canon with a market share of 26.2% while registering a YoY growth of 14.9%. India’s mobile broadband coverage gap high: GSMA Asia chief
There is a wide gap between people covered by mobile broadband and those not using it that raises concerns over India's digital potential to support fifth generation or 5G-driven transformation, a top GSMA executive said. "The coverage gap for people covered by mobile broadband and not using it remains very high and raises questions about the store's digital potential to support 5G-driven transformation," Julian Gorman, head of Asia Pacific, GSMA said. Gorman was speaking at the 5G Congress- 2021, organised by ETTelecom. "Looking at 5G pioneer nations they build their launches on high 4G mobile broadband penetration, high smartphone penetration, advanced manufacturing technology industries and generally high average revenue per user." the executive said, and added that in India, 4G penetration has rapidly increased in the last few years. NEW DELHI: Consumer electronics giant Samsung is all set to expand its Galaxy A series with the launch of three new smartphones. The company recently unveiled the Galaxy A12 in India and now the company is gearing up to launch Galaxy A32, Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A72 smartphones in the country.
