A Gucci campaign for watches is probably the last place you'd expect to see the Arthur meme, or a post featuring the words "me vs the guy she says I shouldn’t worry about." But, these beloved memes are the focus of a quirky ad campaign that's currently dividing the internet. SEE ALSO: Vogue got trolled over Kendall and Gigi 3 times in 24 hours, didn't learn its lesson Gucci enlisted the help of "international meme creators" to create a series of Instagram memes for its latest advertising campaign — a collaborative project called #TFWGucci — for timepieces. But, while some people are loving the fashion house's foray into internet humour, many of its Insta followers have been left scratching their heads. Meme creators were approached by the fashion house to create memes featuring timepieces from different Gucci lines, including the Le Marché des Merveilles collection of watches. And, according to a statement from the brand, many of the memes are the "result of a two-way or … [Read more...] about Gucci posted a load of weird memes and the internet is cringing hard

This iPhone and Samsung Galaxy camera comparison was not what I expected
The $829 (£799, AU$1,349) iPhone 12 has two rear cameras and Samsung's $800 (£769, AU$1,249) Galaxy S21 has three rear cameras. Are more cameras better? Or does a higher price mean better photos? To find out, I did a good old-fashioned camera shootout. The results surprised me. There aren't many people deciding between an iPhone 12 and Galaxy S21 based solely on their cameras. Maybe there is a small niche of professional photographers, like me, who'd use cameras to decide between a Galaxy S21 Ultra or an iPhone 12 Pro Max. But most people stick to what they know and if someone switches from iOS to Android or the other way around, cameras won't be the only deciding factor. Cut through the chatter Subscribe to CNET's Mobile newsletter for the latest phone news and reviews. With that acknowledgement of reality out of the way, let's take a look at these cameras. Despite a similar price, the Galaxy S21 and iPhone 12 represent two different approaches to phone … [Read more...] about This iPhone and Samsung Galaxy camera comparison was not what I expected
Corsair grows its roster of streaming brands with Visuals by Impulse
Today, gaming peripheral brand Corsair is announcing that it has purchased streaming visuals company Visuals by Impulse (VBI), which it’s organizing under its other streaming brand, Elgato. If reading that makes your eyes cross, don’t worry — all it means is that some of the biggest names in streaming technology have come together under Corsair’s roof. Think of the consolidation like a one-stop shop. It’s a smart move on Corsair’s part, too. The company scooped up Elgato — the biggest name in streaming tech — in 2018, and then a year later, it picked up Origin PC , which makes custom prebuilt PCs, and SCUF Gaming , which makes custom professional-grade controllers. This month’s acquisition of VBI means Corsair now has a complete set of products related to streaming: you can get everything from a streaming PC to a suite of custom visuals under one larger roof. “With the addition of Visuals by Impulse to the Elgato family, we’re excited to extend our core mission of empowering … [Read more...] about Corsair grows its roster of streaming brands with Visuals by Impulse
Inside the stunning Black mythos of Drexciya and its Afrofuturist ’90s techno
“ARE DREXCIYANS WATER-BREATHING, AQUATICALLY MUTATED DESCENDANTS OF THOSE UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF HUMAN GREED? ... DID THEY MIGRATE FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO TO THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BASIN AND ON TO THE GREAT LAKES OF MICHIGAN? DO THEY WALK AMONG US? ARE THEY MORE ADVANCED THAN US, AND WHY DO THEY MAKE THEIR STRANGE MUSIC? WHAT IS THEIR QUEST?” With those all-caps words, musician and writer James Stinson wrote the constitution for the mythic, rhythmic nation of Drexciya —a world that he and partner Gerald Donald created in the liner notes of their experimental music project. Their combined work, in the form of five EPs of cutting-edge techno music, did not necessarily sound so politically or culturally charged. Because Stinson and Donald did not participate in interviews or widely tour in support of their albums, Drexciya's listeners were left to look at the stories and questions that covered the liner notes and artwork printed on the releases' vinyl and CD versions. Should you … [Read more...] about Inside the stunning Black mythos of Drexciya and its Afrofuturist ’90s techno
Dear Microsoft, your latest Windows feature may be quite annoying
Tech companies are often busy catching up with each other. more Technically Incorrect The Boeing 737 Max is back? Not everyone is convinced McDonald's customers just got great news. It began as an engineer's bit of fun IT leaders hardly ever get it wrong (say IT leaders) A QR code on your gravestone? It's dead serious "Look what they've done! We have to do the same or our very walls will collapse around us!" No, I'm not specifically referring to Facebook here. In fact, I'm marveling at the latest little snippet to emerge from the constantly evolving Microsoft. As my colleague Liam Tung reported , Redmond is introducing Text Predictions in Word for Windows. Because humans can't be bothered to type whole words anymore. They need to have an artificial brain sitting on their keyboard like a wise, lonely cat, ready to get ahead of translating their thoughts into words. Microsoft's move mimics that of Google which has already injected its Smart … [Read more...] about Dear Microsoft, your latest Windows feature may be quite annoying
