I signed up for T-Mobile’s $50 unlimited home internet service. Here’s what happened

I don't know what you're paying for home internet service, but I'll wager it's more than you'd like it to be -- and probably inching up all the time. For example, Comcast charges me $106 a month just for internet (I ditched TV about a year ago), a rate that seems to increase a few bucks every couple months. So when I learned that T-Mobile Home Internet was available in my area, promising unlimited high-speed service for a flat $50 monthly -- equipment, taxes and fees included -- I jumped at the chance to try it. (Note that availability is limited for the time being; the service is slowly rolling out to cities across the US and is technically in a pilot phase right now. That means things could change when there's an official rollout.) See it at T-Mobile Obviously, I had concerns. Would it be fast enough for everyday computing? Could it handle 4K streaming video? Would it work with my mesh network and support the many, many connected devices in my house? Perhaps … [Read more...] about I signed up for T-Mobile’s $50 unlimited home internet service. Spotify HiFi release date, price, quality, features, rumors and song catalog

When it arrives later this year, Spotify HiFi will deliver some of your favorite songs in lossless, CD-quality audio to close the gap to services like Tidal. According to Spotify, high-quality music streaming is consistently one of the most requested new features by its users who, previously, have been limited to 320kbps. Worse, folks who don’t have Premium are only getting half of that (160kbps) which is equivalent to listening to an MP3. HiFi, on the other hand, will offer CD-quality, lossless audio at upwards of 1411kpbs – offering over four times the amount of data you currently hear when streaming a song. The service will be available in “select markets” to start, and while Spotify hasn’t said exactly how much the service will cost just yet, it sounds like it’s going to be more than the basic Spotify Premium price of $9.99 / £9.99 / AU$11.99 per month and there’s no guarantee that every song in the entire Spotify catalog will have a HiFi version available. That said, … [Read more...] about Spotify HiFi release date, price, quality, features, rumors and song catalog

People Have Stopped Talking About the Missing Plane

Twenty-four days have passed since Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished shortly after takeoff, and tweets about the missing plane have hit an all-time low. The missing plane was only mentioned 170,657 times on Twitter on Sunday, according to data from Sysomos , a Marketwired company and leader in social analytics and intelligence. That's a 92% drop from a high of 2,343,994 Twitter mentions on March 24, when Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak held a live press briefing to say the plane’s journey ended in the middle of the south Indian Ocean. See also: Malaysia Airlines Search Area Is the Worst Place on Earth to Lose a Plane CNN, for its part, is continuing full steam ahead in its wall-to-wall coverage of the saga. The network's coverage has propelled it to record audience highs, with Anderson Cooper beating out Bill O'Reilly in the primetime news demo ratings, CNN's New Day beating Morning Joe “in both total and demo for eleven straight days,” and record-high … [Read more...] about People Have Stopped Talking About the Missing Plane

Amazon Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) review: Move over Nest Hub Max

We may earn a commission for purchases using our links. Learn more . you spin me right round baby This new Echo Show is a real head-turner. Jeramy Johnson 24 Feb 2021 0 Source: Jeramy Johnson / Android Central The smart speaker market has grown quite a bit since Amazon introduced the first Echo in late 2014. However, after introducing the first Echo Show in 2017, the evolution of smart screened devices hasn't progressed nearly so quickly. There have mostly been incremental updates to the devices put out by Amazon, Google, and others like Lenovo, adding bigger screens and (marginally) better speakers, but nothing has really moved the category forward. As it has done several times before, Amazon is poised to usher in the next paradigm shift in smart speaker tech with its latest Echo device, the Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen). I've had the pleasure of using just about every Alexa and Google Assistant-enabled smart speaker over the past few years, so I feel … [Read more...] about Amazon Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) review: Move over Nest Hub Max
