Disney Plus is the Hollywood giant's hub for watching almost everything Disney produces. It streams shows and movies from Disney franchises, including Star Wars , Marvel and Pixar , and all the family-friendly movies and animation from Disney itself. It also includes programming Disney acquired by taking over Fox, such as The Simpsons and the X-Men movies. And now Disney Plus hosts the first new material from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in more than a year -- series WandaVision drops new episodes every Friday, and its show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres on March 19, followed by Loki on June 11. WandaVision , The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki are Disney's first TV series knitted closely into the storytelling of the blockbuster movie franchise. The coronavirus not only delayed all the Marvel series on Disney Plus but also pushed back the entire pipeline of MCU big-screen movies. (New episodes of WandaVision are … [Read more...] about Disney Plus: Everything to know about streaming Disney movies and shows

Live in the audience for the final ‘Grease: Live’ dress rehearsal
BURBANK, Calif. — "Does this look Grease enough?" I asked my friend, adjusting my leather jacket and red heels. "Totally," she reassured me. It was 1 p.m. on Saturday — technically the call time for audience members for Fox's Grease: Live dress rehearsal — but I was running a late due to outfit selection difficulties. Fox had sent invited press, as well as selected audience members, a guide on how to dress for the dress rehearsal ahead of time. The three-hour live musical telecast, directed by Thomas Kail (who also directed Broadway's smash hit Hamilton ) stars Julianne Hough as innocent transfer student Sandy and Aaron Tveit as leading T-Bird Danny. Also on board: Vanessa Hudgens as leading Pink Lady Rizzo, Keke Palmer (Scream Queens) as the sassy Pink Lady Marty Maraschino, Carlos PenaVega (Big Time Rush) as Danny’s tough-guy sidekick Kenickie, and Grammy-nominated pop artist Carly Rae Jepsen as beauty school dropout Frenchy. The show airs live on Fox on Sunday night. … [Read more...] about Live in the audience for the final ‘Grease: Live’ dress rehearsal
Secrets from the set of Fox’s ‘Grease: Live’
BURBANK, Calif. — Rydell High has never looked so familiar. That's because in Fox's Grease: Live , the high school's exterior — located on the Warner Bros. lot — is the same one used in ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars (when it plays Rosewood High School) and Gilmore Girls (Stars Hollow High). The school, of course, also channels the retro vibe of the movie Grease , which is set in the 1950s and was filmed in the '70s, mostly at Venice High School just across town. But Rydell is just one of many locations appearing in Fox's one-night-only staging of Grease , which airs on Sunday night. The telecast features 21 set pieces (including the inside of Rydell High, Frenchy’s bedroom and a backlot with parked vintage cars). More than 400 crew members helped behind-the-scenes, with the set department alone comprising about 20 people. "The movie is so iconic, and the play is one of the most produced musicals of all time," set designer David Korins told Mashable in an … [Read more...] about Secrets from the set of Fox’s ‘Grease: Live’
Members should be heard and not seen. The rise of Clubhouse and social audio?
I'm going to start this with a disclosure so I can get the fanboys and fangirls off my case from the beginning. I have turned down somewhere between 15-20 invites to Clubhouse. But about two weeks ago, I joined. Why? I want to see what the platform provides realistically and wanted to dispel the hype. I've spent a fair number of hours in it but not enough to be calling my wife a Clubhouse widow, so I am starting to get a good feel for what the potential value of Clubhouse and other social audio apps are. And what is so unutterably (though I am uttering it) ridiculous about the hype around it. To be clear, I don't care whether or not you are in love with Clubhouse. I'm not looking for you to defend it or denigrate it. The same way I don't care what Apple fan children love about Macs. They can't see the forest for the trees. I use Apple devices like the iPad Pro and the iPhone and will buy a 14" MacBook Pro with the M1x chip when it comes out. You know why I will? Because they are … [Read more...] about Members should be heard and not seen. The rise of Clubhouse and social audio?
Hollywood is slowly working to rectify decades of Muslim misrepresentation
In the past few months, my Twitter and TikTok feeds have been flooded with clips from shows that have butchered Muslim representation. In one video , a character from Netflix show Tiny Pretty Things is seen deep in prayer until a woman appears out of nowhere and lures him into a seductive dance. In another , a doctor on Grey's Anatomy dramatically rips off her hijab to stop a patient from bleeding, despite being in a hospital, surrounded by bandages and medical equipment. "No more Muslim representation, please," one person on Twitter joked in response. CNET Culture Entertain your brain with the coolest news from streaming to superheroes, memes to video games. These unrealistic depictions are hardly new. Muslims have long been excluded or misrepresented in media. After 9/11, Muslims went from being largely invisible to being regularly portrayed as terrorists or villains in film and television. In news coverage, the label "terrorist" is almost exclusively applied … [Read more...] about Hollywood is slowly working to rectify decades of Muslim misrepresentation
