Stadia Games’ death cuts to the heart of Google’s commitment issues

🎮 🗡️ ⚰️ Stadia isn't dead yet, but Google's recent history suggests Stadia users should prepare for the worst. Michael L Hicks 9 Feb 2021 0 Source: Michael Hicks / Android Central Google has a well-deserved reputation for killing any product or brand that hasn't become the leader in its field, mashing the leftover bits into a Frankenstein's monster with other projects, and rebranding the results with a snazzy new name. It's usually to give new life to underperforming software or apps while adding some innovative new features along the way. To paraphrase Luke Skywalker, none of them are ever really gone. They're just … [Read more...] about Stadia Games’ death cuts to the heart of Google’s commitment issues

Clubhouse Games is the family board game night on the Switch I needed

My family's not going anywhere this summer. Our months at home are turning into more months at home. We're digging into board games, taking long walks, setting up some fun in the yard, and trying to eliminate stress in a world that's overwhelmed with it. Hello, Clubhouse Games, nice timing. Just like Animal Crossing: New Horizons seemed to arrive right at the moment when everyone was stuck at home longing for human connection, Clubhouse Games may well turn into the new family fun quick fix of the summer for people stuck inside. I've been interested in great family multiplayer games on the Switch , and this one's got a lot going for it. It also has some of the games that made Nintendo's old Wii Sports games so great. This isn't Wii Sports... but in some ways, it's spiritually closer than you think. And the warm spirit of this game is exactly what I need at the moment. Nintendo's newest game, arriving June 5, is a compilation of 51 family games, all classics of some … [Read more...] about Clubhouse Games is the family board game night on the Switch I needed

Apple vs Epic Games trial: dates, details and what is #FreeFortnite?

Epic Games has launched its legal fight against Apple after its hit battle royale title, Fortnite , was removed from the iPhone’s App Store in 2020. This ban prevents 116 million of its 350 million player base from accessing updates to the game, so Epic has taken the fight to the US and Australian courts to see it lifted. Epic allegedly broke its agreements with Apple after it allowed players to buy VBucks - paid in-game currency - through non-App Store channels, bypassing the need to give a cut of revenue to the tech giant. Kratos in Fortnite is a step too far - here's why Nvidia GeForce Now may let you play Fortnite on iPhones The best iPhone apps for 2021 Though it appears that Epic is looking for more than just getting Fortnite back onto iPhones, with this trial having the potential to see Apple’s walled-garden platforms finally opened up. Alternatively, game developers who use the Unreal Engine to make their apps could be left scrambling if Epic loses its … [Read more...] about Apple vs Epic Games trial: dates, details and what is #FreeFortnite?
